Daniela Holt Voith

Founder, Director of Design , Voith & Mactavish Architects, LLP

Daniela sees architecture as a stewardship of interconnected environments, driven by her passion for sustainability and thoughtful design. She co-founded VMA in 1988 as one of the few firms prioritizing beauty and traditional styles amid a modernist landscape. While her work has evolved to embrace contemporary approaches, her dedication to creating inspiring educational spaces remains constant.

As an educator, Daniela has shaped architectural education through teaching at Yale, UPENN, and Drexel, and developing Bryn Mawr College’s design studio program, mentoring over 500 students—many of whom have joined VMA. She fosters a collaborative, inclusive work culture and has grown VMA from two to 40 architects committed to respecting building traditions.

A lifelong Philadelphian, Daniela actively contributes to her community, serving as President of the Institute for Classical Architecture & Art – Philadelphia Chapter and holding leadership roles in city planning and design organizations. She was appointed to the 2008 Zoning Code Commission by Mayor Michael Nutter.

Daniela holds a BA from Bryn Mawr College and an MArch from Yale. An avid traveler, cyclist, and train enthusiast, she has explored nearly 60 countries. She’s also passionate about food, basketball, and playing the recorder.
